SUMMER 2022 POST RESULTS SERVICES

If you feel you did better in the exams than your result reflects and wish to challenge the result for an individual paper(s), an exam board will carry out a review of marking. They will not mark your paper again. A different examiner will look at your exam paper, check that the mark scheme was applied correctly during the original marking and assess whether the marking is free from error and represents a reasonable academic judgement. Only those marks that are the result of a genuine marking error, not a difference in judgement, will be changed – the exam boards believe this is fairer to all students.

• Submit one form per subject.
• Forms must be submitted by candidates, not parents/guardians.
• Fees must be paid in advance and are per paper/unit not subject.
• Please note: requests for services cannot be taken over the telephone or via email.

Services available

Clerical check (service EAR1) Deadline: 15^th September 12:30pm
A clerical check of a marked paper will make sure that:

• All of the pages were marked
• All of the marks were counted
• The results match the marks on the paper.

Review of marking (service EAR2) Deadline: 15^th September 12:30pm
If you request a review or priority review of marking:

• It includes a clerical check
• A second examiner will review the paper again to identify genuine marking errors or unreasonable marking.

Your grade can go down as well as up.

Priority review of marking (service EAR2P) Not available for GCSE. Deadline: 25^th August 12:30pm
A priority review is a quicker service for students whose place at a university or other higher educational institution depends on the outcome.
Your grade can go down as well as up.

Priority copy of a marked paper (service ATSP) Deadline: 26^th August 12:30pm

This is a photocopy of the marked exam paper that you can use to decide whether to request a review of marking or a clerical check. DO NOT request if your place at University is dependent on the outcome of a review, go straight to priority review.

The following information explains what may happen following an enquiry about a result and any subsequent appeal.

If your school or college makes an enquiry about a result and a subsequent appeal of one of your examinations after your subject grade has been issued, there are three possible outcomes:

• Your original mark is lowered, so your final grade may be lower than the original grade you received.
• Your original mark is confirmed as correct, so there is no change to your grade.
• Your original mark is raised, so your final grade may be higher than the original grade you received.
